post Category: Google AdSense post postFebruary 17, 2008

Just as the name implies, a Google AdSense “Content” ad on your insurance blog will be a paid advertisement relating to your insurance blog theme or individual blog page. At first, you may see ads that have nothing to do with your blog theme, but once Google understands what your insurance blog is about they will change. Let’s set up a “Content” ad.

SUGGESTION: A good text editor like “Notepad” comes in real handy here. You are going to be given the “code” for your ad and you will need to save it somewhere, so I would open “Notepad” right now.

Setting Up “Content” Ad

Step #1: Log-in to your Google Adsense Account.

Step #2: Click on the “Ad Setup” tab at the top of page.

Step #3: Click on the “AdSense for Content” link.

Step #4: Defaults have been set on this page, so just click on “Continue” at the bottom left.

Step #5: On this page you can actually customize your ads, but for now, the only thing you need to change is the size of the ad. In the “Format” section, open the drop down menu and select “468 x 60 Banner”, then click on “Continue” at the bottom left.

Step #6: Just click on “Continue” at the bottom left.

Step #7: Here you will see your ad size and the date it was created, so click on “Submit and Get Code” at the bottom.

Step #8: The “code” for your “Content” ad has been generated and this is the “code” you will paste in your insurance blog pages. Click inside the “code” box and it should “select all”, so “copy” this code and “paste” into Notepad.

IMPORTANT: You should immediately save your Notepad document by naming the file something you can easily find on your computer - like, yourblognameadsense.

You must copy ALL the ad code.

You should have a file that looks like this:

OK, you have just created your first AdSense “Content” ad for your insurance blog, the next step in this process is to actually put the ad on a page of your insurance blog.
